He is also a volunteer crisis counsellor with Crisis Text Line and an instructor at NYU and Lipscomb University. Additionally, he is a former hostage negotiator and currently an 18-year veteran detective in the New York City Police Department (NYPD) serving as the mental health and wellness coordinator.
