Last year’s ALAA (formerly known as ALTA, the Australian Law Teachers Association) conference was hosted by the SLJ at our Gold Coast campus on 4-5 July. We welcomed legal academics and scholars from Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific.

The conference theme ‘‘‘Real’ Laws in the Post-Truth World”, engaged and questioned emerging dialogues on ‘post-truth’ – their influence on policy and social debate, and how post-truth practices are shaping laws and how truth is and is not part of legal and socio-legal dialogues.

A special thanks to the conference organiser, Associate Professor Jennifer Nielsen, for her leadership in bringing this significant conference to the SLJ and in re-energising this important annual gathering of Australian and New Zealand legal academics.
